Pupils learn how laws are made and enforced and about the purpose and types of punishment.

This unit builds on pupils foundational understanding of law and its role in society. Pupils examine the strengths and weaknesses of the legal system critically evaluating how laws are applied and enforced in the UK. This knowledge helps them recognise the distinct roles and responsibilities within the legal system, fostering informed and active citizenship as they deepen their level of engagment with politcal and social ideas affecting society.
