Description

In this unit pupils are introduced to on-screen programming through ScratchJr. Pupils will explore the way a project looks onscreen by investigating sprites and backgrounds. They will use programming blocks to use, modify, and create programs that move objects.

This unit is an introduction to how programs on a computer are constructed and carry out actions. They use ScratchJr as a means to explore the way a project looks by investigating sprites that are controllable moving against selected backgrounds. They will use programming blocks to use, modify, and create programs. Pupils will also be introduced to the early stages of program design through the introduction of algorithms. Programming principles covered in this unit provide fundamental concepts that are applied and expanded upon in subsequent units.

  1. Programming using command blocks
  2. Joining command blocks
  3. Changing values in a program
  4. Controlling sprites
  5. Designing an animated program
  6. Testing a program
