Description

In this unit, pupils consolidate the perfect tense with a range of known grammar and vocabulary. A key focus is revisiting prepositions of place and movement, consolidating past participle knowledge and contrasting present and perfect tenses.Inversion questions are also practised.

In this module pupils build on previous knowledge of the perfect tense in understanding key periods of France's history and achievements. Irregular past participles are revisited, and sound-symbol correspondences practised to consolidate on the grammar points covered, for example nasal and non-nasal vowels to link to the past participles ending in 'i' and 'u'.

  • Pupils know all persons of verbs like ‘sortir’, ‘choisir’ and ‘venir’ in the present tense.
  • Pupils can use the perfect tense with verbs taking ‘avoir’ and ‘être’.
  • Pupils can form inversion questions without question words in the perfect tense.
  • Pupils know how to combine prepositions of place and movement with nouns and proper nouns for places.
  • Pupils are familiar with the non-nasal vowels a, e, i, o, u, ai and the nasal vowels em, am, en, an, aim, im, ain, in, on, om and um, un.
