Description

In this unit, pupils add the plural forms of 'aller' to their verb lexicon. They apply this when using à, 'en' and 'chez' for to' in different contexts. Pupils reactivate '-er verbs and mostly known vocabulary in extended reading and writing tasks about famous French people. [en,an] is revisited.

In this unit, pupils complete their knowledge of 'aller' in the present tense in all forms. They also revisit the verb patterns for -er verbs. Revisiting these verb patterns with new verbs is essential to securing the knowledge. In addition, they apply it with new grammar - the use of à, en and chez meaning 'to' in different contexts. Pupils apply their knowledge in a rich cultural context as they learn of the wealth of artistic, fashion sporting, scientific and multicultural heritage of famous French speakers.

  • Pupils know to combine 'à' with the definite article for 'to' a place.
  • Pupils know that à + le contracts to 'au' and à + les contracts to 'aux'.
  • Pupils can use regular -er verbs in the present in all persons of the verb.
