Description

In this unit, pupils revisit subject and object pronouns, practising them with present and perfect tenses. Subject pronouns are used to mean 'it' and 'they, and object pronouns to mean 'me' 'you' and 'him, her and it' placed before the verb.

In this unit, pupils embed their knowledge of present and past tenses whilst revisiting subject and object pronouns.The contraction of pronouns (for example me to m') before a vowel or h muet is practised. Pupils apply this knowledge in varying contexts including reading habits and life at school. Direct objects and numbers 70-99 are practised in the context of shopping.

  1. Reading habits: pronouns 'il(s)' and 'elle(s)' meaning it and they, faire
  2. Reading habits: verbs like 'prendre' and 'lire', direct objects
  3. Helping others at school: direct object pronouns 'me' and 'te'
  4. At school and university: direct object pronouns 'me' and 'te'
  5. Shopping: direct object pronouns 'le' and 'la', numbers 70-99
  6. Shopping: direct object pronoun contraction 'l''

  • Pupils know all subject pronouns, including the use of ‘il/elle’ meaning ‘it’ and ‘ils/elles’ meaning ‘they’.
  • Pupils can use all persons of verbs like 'prendre' and ‘lire’, and ‘faire’, in the present tense.
  • Pupils can use all persons of regular -er verbs.
  • Pupils can use intonation, inversion and est-ce que questions in the present tense.
  • Pupils know a range of vocabulary for describing activities in everyday life.
  • Pupils know the numbers 1-59.
  • Pupils are confident with Silent Final Consonants [SFC] and Silent Final ‘e’ [SFe].
