Description

This culturally and vocabulary rich unit revisits the prepositions à, de and en in a range of contexts, as well as partitive articles. In addition, it consolidates and extends pupil knowledge of indirect object pronouns and introduces the preverbal use of y and en.

This unit brings together different uses of à, de and en met at KS3: à and de before a noun, before an infinitive, and before a definite article, as well as à and en with proper nouns for places. It develops this further, introducing preverbal use of en and y. These points are explored in cultural topics, focusing on Francophone countries, food, cultural diversity and celebrations, and pupils will greatly expand their vocabulary in these areas. Pupils also develop their range of indirect object pronouns to include plural as well as singular, completing the full range to be taught at KS4.
