Description

In this unit, pupils are introduced to the singular forms of 'avoir' as they describe possessions. Indefinite articles and grammatical genders are introduced, along with adjectives positioned after the noun. Pupils learn t-liaison and the sound-symbol correspondences e, au,eau, u and ou.

In this unit, pupils are introduced to the singular persons of the irregular and 2nd highest frequency verb 'avoir' to talk about things they and others have. The concept of grammatical gender is introduced with the indefinite articles 'un' and 'une' . Pupils extend their existing knowledge of adjectives and adjectival agreement with new vocabulary and common rule of adjectives after the nouns they describe. Providing opportunities to practise asking intonation questions and answering them develops pupils' communicative competence and confidence at this early stage of learning.
