Description

In this unit pupils apply prior knowledge of irregular verbs, question-forming with question words, indefinite adjectives, interrogative adjectives and demonstrative adjectives. They will also deepen their understanding of relative clauses and learn how to form the imperative.

Building on grammatical knowledge from KS3 and thematic knowledge from previous units at KS4, pupils use questions and answers in the present and the perfect tense to communicate about work situations. The addition of relative clauses enables pupils to form longer, more complex sentences. The focus on the imperative, which is new learning, will allow pupils to practise talking in both formal and informal situations, differentiating between talking to colleagues or other adults and their friends. This understanding of formal and informal language is a key skill to develop going forward at KS4.
