Description

In this unit pupils apply previous knowledge of irregular verbs, impersonal verbs, indefinite adjectives, interrogative adjectives and demonstrative adjectives. They will also meet personne ne...+ verb, rien ne...+ verb and the negative adjective determiner aucun.

This unit revisits grammar essential to all at KS4, whilst also challenging with the introduction of complex structures such as negative subject pronouns. Pupils learn these in the context of health and lifestyle matters, describing health issues in the present, offering suggestions for exercise or dietary improvement using impersonal verbs, and using the negative pronouns and adjectives to talk about others. In addition pupils will think about their own lifestyle choices for a healthy future. Pupils will be able to write comprehensively using a range of tenses and grammatical structures.

  1. J'ai mal...: irregular verbs in the present tense
  2. On se bouge!: impersonal verbs
  3. Manger équilibré: personne ne.../rien ne... + verb
  4. Il faut éviter: indefinite, demonstrative and interrogative adjectives
  5. Rester en bonne santé: negative adjective determiner aucun
  6. Faire de bons choix: extended writing

  • Pupils know the irregular verbs voir, boire, croire and faire in all persons of the present tense.
  • Pupils know the impersonal verbs il est (+ time), il fait (+ weather), il y a and il faut.
  • Pupils know all subject pronouns: je, tu, il(s), elle(s), on, nous and vous.
  • Pupils can use indefinite adjectives to modify nouns: chaque, plusieurs, même(s), autre (s), tout (e)(s)/tous, quelques
  • Pupils can use demonstrative adjectives ce(t) (te)/ ces to indicate a specific thing, person or idea.
