KS3 & KS4 French curriculum

In this unit pupils continue to expand their verb lexicon with singular forms of common irregular -re verbs (for example prendre and dire) and -ir verbs (for example sortir and venir). Pupils extend their range of question forms, adding word order changes with inversion questions, including with two-verb structures and question words comment, où, quand, quoi and pourquoi. Pupils develop their communicative competence with questions and answers in personalising their answers, asking about likes and dislikes and conducting an interview.

• Pupils know the subject pronouns je, tu, il, elle, nous, vous, ils and elles.
• Pupils can use regular -er verbs in the present tense in all persons of the verb.
• Pupils can form questions from statements using intonation.
• Pupils can use two-verb structures e.g. aimer + infinitive.
• Pupils know the question words comment, quand, quoi and pourquoi.
