Description

In this unit, based mainly on the present tense, pupils refresh their knowledge of adjective positioning, comparatives, and the use of de as partitive article and after expressions of quantity.

In this unit, pupils anchor their knowledge of present tense verbs and consolidate knowledge of 'de' as they read about Christmas celebrations around the world. They apply their knowledge of comparative adjectives and adverbs and later in the unit, bring this all together in extended speaking on winter holidays.

  • Pupils know that many adjectives come after the noun but that some categories of adjective precede the noun.
  • Pupils know how to use comparative structures 'plus/moins/aussi...que' with adjectives and adverbs.
  • Pupils know the indefinite articles un, une and des.
  • Pupils know to use the partitive article (du, de la, des, de l') for parts and with uncountable nouns.
  • Pupils know to use 'de' after expressions of quantity.
  • Pupils can recognise and use a range of -er, -re and -ir verbs in the present tense.
