7 May 2026We're looking for a brilliant curriculum partner to develop our new reception curriculum and resources

Tom Rose
Education Director
We are expanding our reception curriculum to provide more teachers with a range of high-quality, optional curricula and resources. We have a strong track record of working in partnership to develop high-quality curriculum plans and teaching resources and are now seeking a new partner to develop the reception resources. We’ll work with the successful partner to bridge the gap between evidence and the classroom, producing resources that can be used by reception settings nationally.
Our approach to developing curriculum resources has always been “for teachers, by teachers”. We are delighted to have worked with a diverse range of organisations across the education sector to make curriculum plans and lesson resources for every national curriculum subject and age group from key stage 1-4. Today Oak is used in nearly 3 in 4 schools. Over 54,000 teachers use it every week - a 53% rise on last year.1
As we begin this work, we’ll be taking a distinctly different approach to the one used for our key stage 1-4 curriculum materials. Reception children learn in ways that are deeply shaped by their stage of development, curiosity and environment. Our new resources will be built on the evidence of what makes effective early years practice, ensuring they reflect how early years teachers teach and what young children need to thrive.
Working with experts our aim is to capture best practice, and ensure that what we create genuinely supports strong progression from early years into key stage 1 and beyond. As with all Oak resources, the new materials will be high-quality, adaptable and entirely optional. They’re designed to offer a model that reception teachers can explore, adapt and draw on in ways that best align with their own curriculum and pupils.
This procurement is for a partner to support the development of a curriculum sequence and teaching resources in reception, replacing the original resources that Oak made to support remote learning in the pandemic.
