Description

In this unit, pupils exploit a rich text to consolidate and apply known vocabulary, grammar and sound symbol correspondences. They also learn to use online dictionary and reference resources accurately.

In this unit, pupils anchor their existing grammar, vocabulary and phonics knowledge in a rich and thought-provoking text. They learn how to use online reference resources for unknown words, read aloud longer and more demanding text with accuracy and can be creative in a dramatised or written original response, which cements their confidence in their mastery of the material covered to date.

  • Pupils know that most final consonants are silent and are familiar with a range of sounds.
  • Pupils know what a cognate is.
  • Pupils know what a noun, adjective, verb, preposition and conjunction is.
  • Pupils know the question words où, comment, quoi, pourquoi and quand.
  • Pupils can give opinions using c'est + adjective.
  • Pupils can use a dictionary or online dictionary.
