      Key learning points

      1. 'Dusk' is a noun which means twilight or nightfall.
      2. 'Eerie' is an adjective which means weird, ghostly or creepy.
      3. 'Nocturnal' is an adjective which means nightly or active at night.
      4. 'Twilight', 'moonlit' and 'sleepless' are other rich vocabulary associated with night.

      Common misconception

      Pupils may find it challenging to use the nouns 'twilight' and 'dusk' effectively with the verb word pairs.

      Model using 'twilight' and 'dusk' in a sentence with different verbs (in differing forms) as examples.

      If you have extra time, you could ask pupils to write a sentence using each word. Encourage pupils to use the word pairs to help them.
