Non-examined assessment: preparing for analysis and evaluation
Lesson details
Learning outcome
I can analyse and evaluate the performance of myself or someone else in a named activity from the specification.
Key learning points
- Analyse fitness and skill strengths and weaknesses in chosen activity.
- Evaluate a training method to increase a fitness weakness.
- Evaluate a theory to bring about improvement in a skill weakness.
- Produce a session plan from a named method to increase a fitness component.
- Calculate intensities correctly and justify their importance for accurate training.
Keywords
Analyse - seperate information into components and identify their characteristics
Evaluate - judge from available evidence
Justify - support a case with evidence
Impact - have a strong effect on someone or something
Calculate - work out the value of something
Common misconception
I must include fitness test protocols and scores to show my fitness strength and weakness.
This is not a requirement. The analysis of the fitness components is using recent competitive performances, and justifying how it benefited or negatively affected that actual performance/s.

Each learning cycle features explanations with checks for understanding and practice tasks with feedback. All of this is found in our slide decks, ready for you to download and edit. The practice tasks are also available as printable worksheets and some lessons have additional materials with extra material you might need for teaching the lesson.
The assessment exit quiz will test your pupils' understanding of the key learning points.
