Sean Harford

Sean is a former teacher, school senior leader and associate adviser for Cambridgeshire. He joined Ofsted in 2003 as one of Her Majesty’s Inspectors to work with schools causing concern. While at Ofsted as a Senior Civil Servant, Sean held roles as the Regional Director for the South of England, the East Midlands, London and also the East of England. Following these roles in Ofsted’s regions, he worked in national policy development, becoming the Director for Schools until 2015, when he took up the role of National Director for Education, which he held until 2021.

He is currently a foundation governor at a boys’ school in North London.

Sean has a BSc in Physics from Warwick University and an MA in Early Modern History from Birkbeck, University of London.
