Description

Pupils will investigate letterforms and practice calligraphic techniques, looking at the work of artists and designers. They will make concrete poems, playing with typographic forms to create meaning and communicate ideas. They will design and create their own letterform composition.

This unit has an emphasis on drawing and painting letters precisely, which aims to improve pupils' fine motor skills. The ability to draw block lettering with a degree of accuracy is a skill that is used repeatedly throughout the key stage. Pupils are increasingly confident to make creative choices and select media and techniques that match their intentions.
