Creature Construction: sculpture

Description

Pupils will combine readily available scrap items into model animals, learning how to construct through assembling materials. They will develop their ability to draw and shade 3-dimensions

This unit develops observational studies into sculpture. They will develop their ability to select and assemble materials, revisiting themes of upcycling that they explored in key stage one.

  1. Sketchbook research: artists who have assembled materials to make sculpture
  2. Sketchbook research: insect, animal and bird studies and designs
  3. Sculpture: make a maquette
  4. Select and assemble recyclable materials to make a creature
  5. Sculpture: refine and finish creature creations
  6. Make a tonal study of a sculpture
