Description

In this unit, pupils will learn the art of portraiture in greater depth. They will learn how artists create expressions, mood and feeling in their portraits using facial features, colour, lighting and props.

This unit builds on earlier explorations of portraiture. Pupils use observational skills and their knowledge of light and tone to create work with expressive purpose. They are able to take and use photographs as source material which they use in this unit for their own investigations.

  2. Investigate facial expressions in portraits
  3. Analyse a facial expression through drawing
  4. Drawing: use tone and colour for facial expressions
