Description

In this unit, pupils will develop brush control and knowledge of paint colours, techniques & processes. They will experiment with mixing and applying colours in visual contexts, for creative effects and to solve problems. They will use a variety of techniques to create a seasonal triptych.

Fine motor skill development is crucial at this stage and the development of brush control and colour mixing is an important foundation for future success in the subject. This unit teaches children to identify primary colours and mix them to make secondary colours. Pupils will consider how the same season can be portrayed in a variety of ways using a wide range of painting techniques.

  1. Mixing secondary colours: spring greens
  2. Mixing secondary colours: autumn oranges
  3. Mixing secondary colours: summer purples
  4. Hot and cold colours
  5. Paint the seasons: plan a colourful work
  6. Painting the seasons
