Description

Pupils will develop their ability to apply light and dark tones to shade the surface of the moon. They will paint a space background and create a planet using printing techniques.

This unit introduces the concept of light and dark tonal shading, which is an important foundational concept in the subject and how artists represent form on a flat surface. Pupils will have been introduced to basic drawing skills in the EYFS stage and this unit will build on those to develop their ability to realise their intentions in mixed media.

  1. Draw the moon
  2. Create a chalk planet
  3. Chalk prints
  4. Make decorative paper using marbling techniques
  5. Create planets and stars using collage papers
  6. Create a space inspired composition
