Key learning points
- The numbers 1-12 in Spanish are: uno, dos, tres, cuatro, cinco, seis, siete, ocho, nueve, diez, once, doce.
- Use masculine plural forms to refer to male only and mixed male and female groups.
- ‘Amigos’ can mean several male friends or several male and female friends.
- Practising and adding to your own 'vocabulario' will help you to make what you write and say more personalised.
Keywords
Vocabulario - means 'vocabulary' - when you say ‘mi vocabulario’, it is your own treasure trove of Spanish words
Common misconception
The feminine plural always refers to girls/women only and the masculine plural, to boys/men only.
The masculine plural is used to refer to groups of women and men too.
After teaching this lesson, teachers may want to encourage pupils often to add words that are important to them to their vocabulario. The building up of a personal repertoire goes hand in hand with using reference resources to find out the meanings of unknown words.
