Common misconception
Pupils may be uncertain as to whether an image has rotational symmetry.
Tracing paper may be useful here. Pupils can trace the image and then rotate the tracing paper to determine if an image has rotational symmetry.
In the second learning cycle, there is an opportunity for pupils to research geometric patterns in other cultures. You may wish to set this as an independent task for completion outside of the classroom and invite pupils to share their findings in a future lesson.
