Keywords
Factor - Factors are whole numbers which exactly divide another whole number.
Multiple - A multiple is the result of multiplying a number by an integer (not by a fraction).
Property - A property is a character or quality that something has.
Classify - When you classify objects, you arrange the objects by some property.
Common misconception
Pupils who are insecure with their times tables may not be efficient at finding factors and multiples.
Provide children with a multiplication grid to support them in identifying factors and multiples. When finding a multiple, ask: 'Is it in the x times table?' When finding a factor, ask: 'Which times tables is this number in?'
