In this unit, pupils revisit modal verbs in singular form in the context of a visit to Paris, and refresh their knowledge of the aller + infinitive in all forms to express future intention when planning visits to new places. Revisiting two-verb structures with modals and the near future provides further opportunities for pupils to secure this knowledge, along with further practice of ne...pas with two-verb structures, question forms and adverb placement.
Prior knowledge requirements
- Pupils know the present tense singular forms of modal verbs devoir, vouloir, pouvoir and savoir.
- Pupils know that modal verbs are usually followed by an infinitive.
- Pupils know to use aller + infinitive to form the near future.
- Pupils know the verb 'aller' in all persons of the verb in the present tense.
