Vocabulary and transcripts for this lessons

      Key learning points

      1. Combine two or more words to create a compound noun. Add 'Lieblings' to mean 'favourite' and 'Haupt' to mean 'main'.
      2. Add the prefix 'un' to an adjective to mean 'un' or 'im' in English, e.g., 'unmöglich' - 'impossible'.
      3. To form ordinal numbers, add the suffix -te for numbers 1-19 and -ste for 20+.
      4. Add the suffix 's' and remove the capital letter for days and times of day to change them from nouns into adverbs.
      5. When performing a role-play, answers should be a short phrase or sentence. Do not add unnecessary detail.

      Keywords

      • Compound noun - one noun created from two or more words

      • Prefix - a letter or group of letters added to the beginning of a word to change its meaning or how it is used

      • Suffix - a letter or group of letters added to the end of a word to change its meaning or how it is used

      Common misconception

I should include as much detail as possible in role-play answers.

When taking part in a role-play, answers should contain one verb and be concise. Do not add unnecessary detail.

      Teacher tip

There are two versions of the role-play in Learning Cycle 3. Option 1 is for Higher students and Option 2 is for Foundation students.
