Pupils will continue to develop their understanding of different ways to train for improved everyday health and/ or sporting performance. From the earlier physical training units pupils will understand the components of fitness that should be prioritised for different sports and/ or playing positions to inform which types of training are most relevant and beneficial. Later in physical training they will consider injuries and injury prevention as well as performance enhancing drugs.

  • Pupils know what basic circuit training includes
  • Pupils know the difference between continuous (non-stop) and interval (reps and sets) training
  • Pupils know the importance of a warm up to reduce the risk of pulling a muscle
