Vocabulary and transcripts for this lessons
Key learning points
- The definite article in Spanish is 'el' and los' with masculine nouns and 'la' and 'las' with feminine nouns.
- When using 'es', we need to use the singular form of the adjective.
- When using 'son', we need to use the plural form of the adjective.
Keywords
Definite articles - the words 'el', 'la', 'los' and 'las', meaning 'the'
Indefinite articles - the words 'un', 'una', 'unos', 'unas', meaning 'a/an' and 'some'
Adjective agreement - when the ending of an adjective matches the noun it describes in gender and number
Common misconception
In Spanish, adjectives always end in -o.
In Spanish, adjectives must agree with the noun they describe in gender and number. If the noun is feminine, the adjective will end in -a, but if it is masculine, it will end in -o. If the adjective already ends in -e, it will stay the same.
Teacher tip
The teacher might want to ask students to read their writing aloud and make the last written activity a spoken and listening one as well. That way, students will practice their Spanish speaking and listening skills too.
