      Common misconception

      The Spanish translation of 'the money is hers' (for exampl) is 'el dinero es suya' because the owner is feminine.

      The Spanish translation of 'the money is hers' is 'el dinero es suyo' because the object is masculine. Possessive adjectives agree with the object, not the owner.
