Key learning points
- It is important to establish the tense of Spanish verbs in order to accurately translate them into English.
- When producing extended writing, you must establish the time frame of bullet point prompts to plan appropriate answers.
- The BORDER acronym is a useful tool to respond fully and accurately to bullet points.
Keywords
Tense - form of a verb that expresses time (past, present, future)
BORDER - acronym for extended writing
Common misconception
Any word that ends in -é is in the preterite tense.
Some words that end in -é are in the inflectional future. In this case, the -é ending is added to the infinitive - 'trabajaré' (I will work) - rather than the stem, as in the preterite - 'trabajé' (I worked).
