Having considered the composition of 1,000 through exploring measures contexts, pupils now apply their place value understanding to explain how 10 and 100 thousand can be composed before reading and writing numbers up to 1 million, using place value charts and numbers in different contexts. This will prepare pupils to understand number with 7 and then 8-digits.
