Pupils practise asking and answering intonation questions, with the new question word 'quoi' and a range of new vocabulary to extend their communicate competence. Pupils appreciate importance differences in translation, with the English 'do' and 'make' as equivalents for 'faire', They also develop confidence in writing as they manipulate the verb 'faire' in short sentences.
Prior knowledge requirements

- Pupils know that 'il' and 'elle' can be translated as 'it'.
- Pupils know the indefinite articles 'un' and 'une'.
- Pupils know the definite articles 'le', 'la', 'les' and 'l''.
- Pupils know that many nouns are made plural by adding -s.
- Pupils can recognise silent final consonants and s- and t- liaison.
- Pupils can make statements into questions using intonation.
