I can describe family members and relationships using a range of articles, possessive adjectives, and gender and number agreement of nouns.

Vocabulary and transcripts for this lessons

      Key learning points

      1. 'Moi-même', 'toi-même', etc. emphasise a person's involvement in an action and are translated as myself, yourself, etc.
      2. It is important to plan the ideas, the vocabulary and the grammar to be included when writing a longer text.
      3. Careful planning of a speaking task, pre-rehearsal and immediate repetition of the task all improve performance.
      4. When developing a personal response, it's helpful to use a dictionary to look up new vocabulary.

      Keywords

      • Même - pronominal adjective meaning 'same', e.g. 'la même personne'

      • Moi-même - emphatic reflexive pronoun 'myself'

      • Toi-même - emphatic reflexive pronoun 'yourself'

      • Elle-même - emphatic reflexive pronoun 'herself'

      • Lui-même - emphatic reflexive pronoun 'himself'

      Common misconception

You can just learn set sentences by heart and produce them mechanically when requested.

Both writing and speaking must be adapted to the question and have a level of personalisation and spontaneity.

      Teacher tip

There are two options in certain exercices to support differentiation.
