Lesson details
Key learning points
- Green spaces and trees help soak up noise and pollution too from traffic and provide peaceful spots.
- Maps help us to identify and name green spaces as well as other features.
- Bute Park is a large park located behind Cardiff Castle and close to the shops, and the River Taff flows through it.
Keywords
Green spaces - Green spaces are areas of land with plants, grass or trees that people can visit, such as parks, woods and wetland areas
Parks - Parks are outdoor public spaces where people can go to relax or play
Peaceful - When something is peaceful it is quiet, calm and not disturbed
Recreation - Recreation is an activity done for pleasure
Common misconception
Pupils may think that all parks have playgrounds and play equipment like swings and climbing frames.
Some parks do have places to play, but not all of them. Parks are natural open spaces often with grass or woodlands that we can enjoy.
