Key learning points
- When performing a role-play, answers should be a short phrase or sentence. Do not add unnecessary detail.
- When describing a photo, use the acronym PALM. It stands for People, Action, Location, Mood. Add your own opinions too.
- A well-developed response in conversation has at least three verb clauses.
- Extend your answers by using a different tense, a different subject, or opinions and reasons.

Common misconception

Teachers may choose to give students preparation time for all of the exam-style tasks across the three cycles, either in class or at home, and then embark on an exam-style scenario 1:1, in pairs, or rehearse as a class.
