- Connect: taking time to explain our tactics demonstrates a clear understanding of everyone's role and shows respect.
Keywords
Possession - the team in control of the ball
Tactic - plans you create and use to try to win or succeed
Adapt - to change or adjust to fit a new situation
Common misconception
Pupils feel embarrassed to admit when they don't understand a tactic or don't listen when tactics are being discussed.
It is really important to encourage pupils to be honest if they don't understand so that their teammates can explain to them. Celebrate and praise pupils/teams who ensure everyone understands, and individuals who speak up when they need help.
Teacher tip
Pause games after a set amount of time; allow teams time to reflect and evaluate the effectiveness of their tactics. Celebrate teams who demonstrate great communication and collaboration; award extra points for this where applicable.
