      In Spanish, after adverbs of position we always use 'del'.

      In Spanish, after adverbs of position we use 'de', 'del' or 'de la'. 'De' when what follows is a person or place name, 'del' when what follows is a masculine noun and 'de la' when what follows is a feminine noun.

      Teacher tip

      The teacher might want to bring a map of Madrid and ask students to imagine that they are visiting Madrid and ask them to say where they are on the map, e.g. 'estamos en la Puerta del Sol', 'estoy en la Gran Via'. This is a good opportunity to learn more about Madrid and its famous monuments.
