Description

This unit will explore the relationship between health, fitness, exercise and performance before unpacking the different components of fitness. This understanding will include key definitions, how to test and train each but also which components are most important for different sports.

Pupils will already have a basic appreciation of how fitness comprises different elements that are important to a greater or lesser extent depending on the activity. From the applied anatomy and physiology units they will also have an in-depth understanding of how our bodies respond to exercise and adapt to cope better after a period of training. Later in physical training they will explore principles and methods of training as well as how to reduce the risk of injury through overtraining or poor programming.
