Why this why now

Pupils will already have developed basic skills to operate as a team but this unit challenges pupils to apply them in unique scenarios that require problem solving and creative thinking. Later in outdoor adventurous activities pupils will get the opportunity to engage in activities beyond the school walls, which will further develop their teamwork and leadership skills.

Prior knowledge requirements

  • Pupils know that basic fundamental movement skills form the building blocks for other physical movement skills.
  • Pupils understand that to improve we need to reflect on both the positives and negatives of our performance.
  • Pupils are able to build and maintain trust when working in small groups.
  • Pupils show patience and resilience when faced with a challenging task.
