Description

In this unit pupils will build up their understanding of the historical context of Jesus. They will analyse some key stories focussing on how Jesus associated with those on the margins of society. From this they will study how contemporary Christians live out this teaching through their actions.

In Year 1 pupils learnt about the significance of Jesus for many Christians and the idea of the incarnation. They built on this in Year 3 by interpreting the story of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. In this unit they will build on this by looking at stories about the friends and relationships Jesus built during his lifetime, noting how they focussed on the margins of society. They will investigate how these might be interpreted today.

  1. Jesus and his historical context
  2. Zacchaeus the outcast
  3. Simon Peter the fisherman
  4. Legion' and his affliction
