This is a complex question and so comes at the end of Key Stage 1. Pupils will use their understanding of Christianity and Islam to look at similarities and differences in terms of language and structure of prayer. They will consider a humanist and non religious approach to reflection, without reference to a deity. This will sow seeds for Key Stage 2 lessons on spirituality.
Prior knowledge requirements
- Pupils will have encountered the concept of worship.
- They will have considered the importance of places of worship and different festivals.
- Pupils will have explored rituals in welcoming a new child including prayers are made as part of this.
