Description

In this unit pupils build on their understanding of belonging to investigate similarities and differences between churches, synagogues and mosques. They will explore how their is diversity within religious buildings as well as between worldviews.

In Year 1 pupils built up an understanding of how belonging is central to most worldviews. In this unit they will apply this understanding to a unit focussed in depth on churches, mosques and synagogues. It is situated here as pupils have deeper knowledge of the worldviews and so can look at diversity in more depth through a series of carefully chosen case studies. They will revisit these ideas in Key Stage 2.

  1. Belonging to a church
  2. How churches differ
  3. Belonging to a mosque
  4. How mosques differ
  5. Belonging to an Orthodox synagogue
  6. How synagogues differ
