Description

In this unit pupils will build on their understanding of spirituality. They will examine how many worldviews use art to help express their beliefs. They will connect Islamic teachings on images to the development of calligraphy. They will examine different Christian attitudes to images.

In Year 3 pupils investigated the concept of spirituality through music and dance. In this unit they will examine how poetry and the visual arts allow believers and devotees to express their beliefs. Comparing Christian iconography and Islamic calligraphy will enable them to see points of connection and departure. They will be able to interpret visual arts and see how there is diversity in how these have been understood.
