Description

In this unit pupils will be introduced to the Sikh worldview through a depth study of Guru Nanak. They will understand the role of a guru as a teacher and through stories of his life understand how he remains an inspiration to Sikhs today.

In Year 2 and 3 pupils began to learn about Hindu worldviews. Now they are introduced to another dharmic worldview: Sikhi. This worldview has a long and deep relationship with the UK and so is essential knoweldge. They will see how Guru Nanak arose within the context of the India of the time and how his message challenged the society around him. This will prepare them for units looking at how the Prophet Muhammad and Jesus challenged their societies.
