Description

In this unit pupils begin to explore the idea of covenant using a theological lens. They learn the story of Abraham and also look at other key stories in the Torah and Old Testament that talk about promises between God and humans.

Covenant is a key concept that will be revisited in Year 3 and in Key Stage 3. In Year 2 we use the language of promises to sow seeds for this. This unit allows pupils to build up their understanding of the Bible focussing this time on the Torah and Old Testament. The figure of Abraham is central to Abrahamic worldviews and so it is introduced here.

  1. Shared stories
  2. Noah and the Rainbow
  3. The calling of Abraham
  4. The story of Abraham and Sarah
  5. The story of Joseph
  6. Jesus: waiting for a promise to be fulfilled
