Pupils will practice recording from close observation of primary and secondary sources, using line drawing techniques developed in earlier units. They will learn how to transfer drawings into print media and how to develop a design motif. Their explorations of repeat pattern will be developed with more sophisticated compositions in later units.
Prior knowledge requirements
- Experience of using skill & control when drawing appropriately to intentions
- Prior experience of formulating personal opinions about artists work in discussions
- Ability to express thoughts & ideas about an artist’s work through sketches & written notes
- Appropriate level of fine motor skills to manipulate & form sculptural materials to intentions

Insects: drawing and printmaking
Pupils will explore the world of insects up close, recording their observations using line drawing techniqes. They will develop these drawings through a number of print processes, before creating and realising a design for surface print.
