In this unit, pupils apply their existing and new knowledge in talking about their day. Applying number rules and telling the time adds depth and further practice opportunities for pupils' dialogues and conversations. Pupils also apply their knowledge of avoir and être in expressing feelings and states. This is brought together in an extended writing task, allowing pupils to demonstrate their knowledge of grammar and high frequency vocabulary with increasing confidence, fluency and personalisation.
Prior knowledge requirements
- Pupils know how to form numbers 1-31.
- Pupils know the verb 'avoir' in the present tense in all persons.
- Pupils know the verb 'être' in the present tense in all persons.
- Pupils know that the il/elle can be translate as 'it' as well as 'he/she'.
- Pupils know how to form questions using inversion with and without question words.

In this unit, pupils consolidate and extend their knowledge of numbers from 32-69 and use the impersonal verb 'il est' to tell the time. Avoir and être are revisited to talk about feelings and states. Knowledge of question forms and present and perfect tenses is deepened in writing and speaking.
