Key learning points

  1. Conjugate the future tense of -er verbs by adding the endings -ai, -as, -a, -ons, -ez, -ont to the infinitive.
  2. It is helpful to practise spoken recall of present, aller + infinitive, and simple future, as part of a 'verb workout'.
  3. In French the stress or emphasis usually falls on the last syllable of a word or phrase.

Keywords

  • Aller + infinitive - 2-verb structure meaning 'going to + infinitive'

  • Simple future - 1-verb future tense meaning 'will + verb'

Common misconception

In French, the stress is placed on the first syllable of a word, like in English.

In French, the stress is ususally placed on the final syllable of a word, although stress is not as strong in French as it is in English.
