This unit is an extension of the perimeter and area unit in year 7 (which focused on polygons), and extends this knowledge to focus on circles and circle based composite shapes then extending to look at the concept of prisms and volume.

In this unit pupils extend their knowledge of shapes by exploring the properties of circles and composite shapes before developing understanding of 3-D shapes including surface area and volume.
