      Lesson details

      Learning outcome

I can send different objects using different parts of my body towards a target.

      Key learning points

      1. Move: accurately sending objects towards a target requires using the correct technique for kicking and rolling.
      2. Think: knowing how to roll a ball accurately using the correct technique requires concentration.
      3. Think: concentration enables us to kick, roll or throw a ball towards a target using the correct technique.
      4. Feel: consistently trying hard to hit the target, even if we miss it, demonstrates self-belief.
      5. Connect: only counting the score when an attempt is accurate demonstrates fairness.

      Keywords

      • Target - something you focus on, aim for and try to reach or hit

      • Kick - striking or propelling a ball or another object with the foot

      • Roll - when a ball moves by turning over and over along the ground

      Common misconception

Some pupils may think they have to push the ball very hard to make it roll accurately.

Using a gentle, controlled push helps the ball roll in a straight line.

      Equipment

An object to throw - which could be a ball or rolled up socks, 3 targets - which could be soft toys, shoes or books.
